83 in arc: Idiocraception – chapter: Oozie Nine Millimeda
SONAIS 265 - Friday, May 1, 2026 link
Strip 265. After narrowly escaping the Ultrax defense system, the team figures out how to get past it.
Max and Steve run back through the door while bullets hit the wall and pierce the door.
SFX: BAM BAM BAM BAM
Max: Get out of here!

Max: Gun turrets in a music production studio? I don't think so. That place is hiding something big.
Steve: We must get inside. But, this shotgun won't do, not even with its mighty SQRL Destroyer slugs. Does our ally at the other end of the simulation have a solution?

View of OIB-A271 in the real-world office.
OIB-A271: I am making progress in obtaining more control, but am not quite there. It would be helpful if you could take down some of that weaponry at your end.
Heidi (voice): OK, back to the weapons store then. We might need our budget spiced up a notch.
OIB-A271: Your wish is my command.

Strip 266. The team goes shopping again for weaponry to defeat the Ultrax defences.
Setting: back at the entrance of the “POOP” store.
Adil: Back at the weapons store to buy more “POOP.” Told you, we need a rocket launcher!
Steve: I admit, you were right. We may need a lot more than that, though.
Alana: Let's prepare for the worst. I suspect that turret not to be the only obstacle to defeat.

Store owner: Back so soon? Must be having a real serious squirrel problem.
Steve: Yeah… really nasty ones. Big and aggressive. The shotgun alone won't do. We need the heavy stuff.
Store owner: Damn fluffy pest! Rocket launchers and flamethrowers in the back.

Zhang: Don't we need a license for such things?
Store owner: A what? Squirrels ate your brain? You just pay and it's yours!
Zhang: Oh right… I forgot that anything lethal is highly encouraged here.

Strip 267. Max tests whether the predicted future matches one of his favorite sci-fi movies.
References: movie “The Terminator” (1984); the “Event” war: strip 220
Max: Hey, we are in the future, right? I want to try something. Excuse me, do you have a phased plasma rifle in the 40 Watt range?
Shop clerk: Sure. Here, I recommend our own POOP brand. Best value for money.
Max: I'll be damned.

Max: It even looks like the weapons from the movie. I do wonder what the 40 W refers to, seems quite low power for a weapon.
Heidi: It may refer to the plasma generator. The actual plasma pulse will deliver a whole lot more instant power.
Max: There is actual science behind this?

Heidi: Someone must have designed these before everyone went dumb… maybe around the time the “Event” war broke out. At least that's what I hope. Otherwise we might just explode when trying to use it.
Max: Only one way to find out. We would respawn anyway…
Heidi: Good point.

SONAIS 268 - Tuesday, May 12, 2026 link
Strip 268. The team continues shopping for both classic and unusual weapons to prepare for invading the Ultrax complex.
Max: Hey, if we're going full Arnie anyway… do you also have the “oozie nine millimeda?”
Shop clerk: You're in luck, they just started making those again. Discount: 2 for the price of 1!
Steve: Can't go wrong with a bullet hose. Too bad they don't have the Micro Uzi for maximal hosing.

Zhang: Look at this… a “tactical baseball bat.”
Adil: That is just a baseball bat with a scope mounted on it, what the heck?
Zhang: It is so stupid that I badly want one.

Alana: I think we have what we need. Backpacks would be helpful… unless OIB-A271 can hack the simulation to offer us videogame-like weapon switching.
Heidi: That would be nice, but impossible, due to limits imposed by the quantum link.
Max: No inventory stacking hacks like in the original Deus Ex either?
Heidi: I'm afraid not.
